choreography, performance, music arangement: Janusz Orlik
artistic collaboration: Michał Łuczak
ligting desing: Dariusz Prokop
residency performance presented as part of Solo Project

The performance is not a representation of a linear story told from beginning to end. It is more a discourse about how far we will go with our acts and emotions.

What do we sacrifice for being loved or for loving others? How do we perceive ourselves and how do others perceive us? What do we feel when we try to express things we will  never say out loud? Is it not better to turn the other cheek?

This solo is about freeing your emotions, the effect this has on other people, the consequences of your actions and about stubbornness. This is a piece about the audience, for an audience.

I'm hurt, I fall to the ground,
I give you my hand to stand up.
I stand on the ground, I stand face to face,
I look for a help, sometimes I get that.
I look for support, sometimes they don't turn away.
I miss love but I always know where to look for it.
When others miss it, I cannot give a lot.
I want to be listened to, I do not listen to the others,
I'd like to be myself, sometimes I pretend,
I respect the others
… and thy neighbor as thyself

“Janusz Orlik is one of the most talented young Polish dancers and choreographers. He is an artist with a very strong personality and presence, he dances with exquisite precision and grace. His emotional performance stays in people’s hearts.”

Marta Mielcarek, DZIENNIK Polska Europa Świat

„Orlik is unusually precise in gestures. He fills his character with strong emotions. He is very natural, no posing, no faking at all.”

Stefan Drajewski, Głos Wielkopolski

“His dance is (…) organically literal, perfectly harmonized with the music and its words touching on the basic problem of closeness, love and pain, emotional extremes and boundaries.”

Monika Błaszczak, VariaTe
